Mathter now makes unit tests. There are 47 ready-made ones, from Grade 3 place value to Grade 12 calculus, and each is a free PDF with its answer key at the back. No account is needed to download one.

A worksheet practises one skill. A unit test checks several at once, in parts, the way a test at the end of a unit does. Until now that meant stitching worksheets together by hand. Now it is one page to fill in and one PDF to print.

What is in a unit test

Each test covers one unit in parts, one part per topic. The Grade 7 Algebra test, for example, has four parts: simplifying expressions, linear equations, inequalities and word problems.

  • Four questions per topic by default, numbered straight through the test.
  • A name, date and score line on the first page, with the score out of the real total.
  • Diagrams where the topic needs them: number lines, scatter plots, box plots, angles and solids.
  • Room to work on the questions that need it.
  • An answer key at the back, or worked solutions that show every step.

Every grade from 3 to 12

Each grade has four to six units, grouped by topic rather than by any one curriculum, so they fit most courses:

  • Grades 3 to 5: place value and whole numbers, the four operations, fractions and decimals, measurement, and data.
  • Grades 6 to 8: number, fractions and percents, ratios and rates, algebra, geometry and measurement, and data and probability.
  • Grades 9 and 10: number, algebra, linear relations and data, geometry, linear systems, analytic geometry, quadratics and trigonometry.
  • Grades 11 and 12: functions and quadratics, exponential growth and finance, sequences and series, trigonometry, advanced functions, calculus, vectors and data management.

Every test has its own page with a preview of the first page and the free download.

Make your own version

The free PDFs are fixed, so a test you hand out today is the same file tomorrow. When you want a different one, the Tests tab builds it:

  • Start from a unit, or pick up to six topics from the grade yourself. The test is named for what it covers.
  • Choose two to five questions per topic, and Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced.
  • Turn the answer key and worked solutions on or off.
  • Preview every page before you download, then make a new version with different numbers in one click.

On Standard, one download holds two forms, A and B. On Premium, it holds up to five, A to E. Each form has the same topics with different numbers, and no question repeats across forms, so students sitting side by side get different tests.

Correct answers, every time

Every question and answer is computed by code written for that skill, not written by a language model. The key is worked out from the exact questions on the page, so it matches the test you print.

What it costs

The 47 ready-made tests are free to download, with no account.

A test you build in the Tests tab costs one credit, the same as a worksheet pack, and every plan can make them. The free plan includes two credits a month. Standard and Premium include more. Standard adds a second form per test, and Premium allows up to five.
